Mexico: Hidalgo

We visited a family friend in Tepatepec, Hidalgo, for the religious celebration of a tiny baby Jesus doll ("El Niño Dios") of exquisite making that has been passed down within the family over generations as a sacred devotional item.

A monumental 55m-high cross, claimed to be the biggest in Latin America.
It was built to attract tourism in 2016, but is still closed to the public and apparently abandoned.

The charrería is horsemanship elevated to artistic performance.
A cherished symbol of Mexican culture, is nowadays practiced mostly
by the medium-upper class due to its high costs.
